Infrastructure: Paving the Way to the New Year

Grinding away the old year with MB Crusher drum cutters.

As 2023 draws to close, it is breaking ground in the most literal sense: Tunnels, utility lines, and roads. All done with MB Crusher drum cutter, the must-have tools in today’s fast-paced world. Let’s prepare the way for the new year.

Tunnels, road networks, hydroelectric networks, excavation work and profiling of new tunnels, are all construction sites where precision, speed, power and continuity are required. MB hydraulic drum cutters allow you to reduce costs, and time and simplify site management.

At the end of the year, we all make a few New Year resolutions but before we think about 2024, let’s see how our customers streamlined their jobsites by using MB Crusher equipment in 2023.

The light at the end of the tunnel – We’re not just grinding rocks; we’re grinding away any potential bumps.

6 days and 16,150 Sq.Ft. of milled tunnel. This is what our Croatian customer did when he unleashed his secret weapon: the MB Crusher MB-R500 drum cutter installed on his Takeuchi TB290. He renovated an old Slovenian tunnel in Ploče and if he had processed the Dalmatian white stone with a hydraulic hammer, it would have taken more than a month of do and he would not have obtained smooth and uniform walls.

A larger model of the hydraulic drum cutter, the MB-R800, in Nepal: installed on a Volvo EC210, completed the Hydro Power project in a very short time. it involved cutting a 23-foot-wide road and a 22 foot long, 12-foot-wide and 15-foot-high tunnel.  The drum cutters can work in confined spaces and due to the low vibrations of all MB Crusher models, they make projects much easier to manage.

Shorten your distances – Make way for the water.

In India, projects are big. Several irrigation canals branch out from one of the largest dams in the country, bringing water for agriculture, livestock and numerous businesses. As part of an ambitious project that involves the enlargement and maintenance of these irrigation channels, our client had considered the use of a hydraulic hammer, a solution that he later discarded due to the need for precision work required by the project. The precision that he achieved with the MB-R drum cutter, equipped with a Direct Drive Twin Motor System, allowing him to calibrate the milling force and distribute it to both drums. Thanks to the MB-R800 hydraulic drum cutter, all the goals set for the project were reached: milling precision and high productivity for a medium-hard rock.

Impressed by the performance and work of the MB-R800 drum cutter, the customer bought 5 more units, which he put in place for the construction of more than 5 miles of irrigation networks.

Keep it easy peasy – Why stress about bumpy roads when you can grind away the problems?

In a viaduct in Custonaci in the province of Trapani, Sicily, it is necessary to mill down both asphalt and concrete to lower the level and simplify all the reinforcement operations for the restoration of the curbs. The problem was solved by installing an MB-R500 cutter on a Komatsu PC50 mini-excavator, the smallest model in the MB Crusher range.

In short, when it comes to making progress, MB Crusher’s hydraulic drum cutters are a very effective way forward, especially when it comes to finishing precise profiling work: they work on the road surface, removing the asphalt for subsequent restoration, profiling of any protruding boulders, clearing the rocky terrain for the construction of new road arteries. In addition, they work continuously, ensuring greater efficiency. The low vibrations and noise also allow you to operate in residential areas and historic centers.
