FAE Expands RCU45 Capabilities with New PML/RCU Swinging Hammer Mulcher

FAE has expanded the capabilities of its RCU45 remote-controlled tracked carrier with the introduction of the new PML/RCU swinging hammer mulcher. Designed for vegetation management in challenging terrain, the new attachment provides an efficient solution for cutting grass, brambles, brush, and small shrubs up to 2 inches (5 cm) in diameter.

The PML/RCU mulcher is engineered to deliver consistent performance while giving operators greater control over material discharge. Key features include a hydraulic hood for managing outflowing debris, a support roller with integrated skids for improved stability, a durable trapezoidal belt transmission, and interchangeable protection chains to enhance durability and simplify maintenance.

Operators can configure the mulcher with either Y/2 flails for lighter vegetation or PML hammers for more demanding mulching applications, allowing the attachment to be matched to specific jobsite conditions.

The new mulcher is designed specifically for FAE’s RCU45, an ultra-compact remote-controlled tracked carrier built for working safely in areas that are difficult or hazardous for conventional equipment. The machine is well suited for steep slopes, confined spaces, and other locations where operator safety is a priority.

Typical applications include municipal vegetation management, roadside maintenance, utility right-of-way clearing, and maintenance around railroad tracks, highways, power lines, oil and gas pipelines, canals, rivers, lakes, parks, gardens, and wooded areas.

For heavier land-clearing applications, the RCU45 can also be equipped with the FAE BL0/RCU forestry mulcher. Featuring a fixed-tooth rotor with Bite Limiter technology, the BL0/RCU is capable of processing branches and wood up to 4 inches (10 cm) in diameter.

By adding the new PML/RCU swinging hammer mulcher, FAE gives contractors, municipalities, and vegetation management professionals another versatile attachment option for maximizing the productivity of the RCU45 platform across a wide range of mowing and brush control applications.
