RIPPERS
Rippers are attachments for heavy equipment that are used to break up and loosen the ground in preparation for moving the material by dozers, graders, scrapers and excavators. They are used in applications such as road and highway construction, land clearing, site development and surface mining. Rippers may be attached to tractors, bulldozers, motor graders, excavators, backhoes and skid steers and come in a variety of configurations. Single Shank Rippers are designed for ripping under the most severe conditions where material density and depth of penetration offer the most resistance. Multi-Shank Rippers are suitable for lighter, more favorable ripping conditions and offer increased production in these settings. Parallelogram Style Rippers are available in single and multi-shank configurations. They are designed to provide a constant tip engagement angle regardless of the depth of penetration.
The main components of a ripper include the ripper beam, shanks or tines, tips and adapters, hydraulic cylinders, hoses, mounting adapter and hardware. Hydraulic controls and lines to the ripper are required to complete the installation.
